Glossary of Boat Terms

A	Aft	Toward the rear of the boat
B	Ballast	Weight, either fixed or movable, added to a boat to affect its trim.
	Bridgedeck	Horizontal surface or deck of a boat where the helm is located.
D	Deck	Horizontal surface in a boat.  Uppermost deck of a boat forming the “roof” of a hull is sometimes referred to as a cap.
